How much CBD should I Vape, when Vaping a Pure and Concentrated CBD Oil Vape Pen?

How much CBD should I Vape, when Vaping a Pure and Concentrated CBD Oil Vape Pen?

You’re considering vaping CBD, but there are an overwhelming number of options out there and prices seem to vary considerably. What should you be taking into account when making a product selection, and is there any special reason why you should consider a concentrated CBD oil vape pen above other CBD vape products?

Selecting a product based on its price has its pitfalls. Why should some CBD products cost more than others? It all comes down to the concentration of CBD. Some products only contain tiny amounts of CBD and a lot of propylene glycol, the synthetic carrier that’s used for most vape juices. To clarify why this is important, we need to dig a little deeper.

Why Vape CBD?

CBD is a cannabinoid that’s extracted from hemp plants. It doesn’t produce a high, but many people find it relaxing and research suggests it may have potential health benefits. There are multiple ways of taking CBD, but for some people, vaping is the most effective.

This is because vaping is the fastest way to get CBD into your system as it enters straight into the bloodstream. This has an additional benefit. We all want to get value for money, which in CBD terms means finding a delivery method that allows for the maximum amount of CBD to be used by the body. When taking CBD via the oral route in capsules or CBD tinctures, much of the active ingredients are lost through the digestive process. So if you want top bang for your buck, vaping CBD is the way forward.

Propylene Glycol and CBD Vaping

Propylene glycol is a synthetic agent used to keep CBD vape juice flowable. In its natural state, CBD is a solid, and that would make it unsuitable as an e-juice. To make matters more complicated, there’s also no set standard that lays down how much CBD should be added to propylene glycol before it can be seen as a CBD vape juice.

Although there’s no conclusive evidence that propylene glycol, a synthetic compound that is also used as a food additive, is dangerous, there are certainly some concerns about its long-term health effects. Propylene glycol has been linked to asthma and allergies, while another study links it to the formation of formaldehyde, which is a known carcinogen.

The authors of the study suggested that inhaled propylene glycol could be five times as carcinogenic as cigarettes. However, this result is not conclusive because no long-term studies on vaping have been conducted so far.

Breakthrough: A Concentrated CBD Vape Pen Without Propylene Glycol

At Synergy Extracts we believe in the health-boosting potential of hemp just as nature intended. We wanted to produce a high CBD oil vape pen that would contain nothing but natural ingredients. Through experimentation, we discovered that by reintroducing the natural hemp terpenes into a CBD distillate, we were able to keep CBD flowable. The result is a completely natural product with no propylene glycol added.

But what are terpenes? They aren’t cannabinoids, but they are found in all aromatic plants including hemp. Apart from imparting fragrance and flavour, they are believed to offer a host of health benefits in their own right, and when paired with CBD, are thought to enhance its positive effects due to what’s been termed ‘the entourage effect.’

Choosing a CBD Oil Vape Pen: What to Look Out For

When choosing your CBD vape oil, price per volume is only one factor to take into consideration. Evaluate CBD vape products using the following criteria:

  • How much CBD does the product contain?
  • What other ingredients are in the e-juice?
  • Does the CBD vape product contain whole plant CBD goodness like terpenes and minor cannabinoids?

Just as it’s a good idea to read the labels of packaged foods to see what you’re getting, you should also check CBD product labels closely to see what you’ll be inhaling along with CBD.

Should You Use a CBD Pen?

A CBD pen is a handy, portable device used for vaping CBD e-liquids and oil concentrates. Some come with refillable tanks, while others use disposable cartridges.

These devices work exactly like a regular e-cigarette. In fact, oil concentrate tanks (atomisers) are available for conventional e-liquid vapes.

The battery feeds power to a metal coil, which then heats up and vaporises the CBD mixture into an aerosol.

Vape pens carry several advantages. If you’re interested in vaping CBD, there are a few things you need to know.

CBD Pen Advantages

Ingestion is a very popular method when using CBD. Tinctures and capsules, for instance, are simple and discreet. Edibles, meanwhile, turn your daily CBD dose into a treat.

But pens have benefits as well.

CBD Loss is Offset

When you vape CBD oil, you don’t have to experience the loss that comes through ingesting it.  According to a study published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine, cannabinoids (like CBD) have lower peak levels when ingested. The study also reveals that these peak levels are lower than inhalation.

This is mainly due to the mode of delivery.  Edibles can take between 30 minutes to four hours before having an effect, Health Canada explains. The delay occurs because of the time needed for digestion.

Vaping, on the other hand, sends the CBD directly into your bloodstream via inhalation. This means the effects can be almost instantaneous, peaking at around 30 minutes.

Aside from improved efficacy, vaping is also quite easy. Although there are more advanced devices out there, a simple pen is all you need. These typically come in kits and can be quite cheap.

CBD Pens Are Very Discreet

It’s possible to vape CBD without awkward looks and uncomfortable stares from bystanders. That’s why vaping can be such a good option. Vaping is socially acceptable these days, so no one bats an eyelid when they see someone vaping. You can vape CBD discreetly without attracting unwanted attention.

Getting the Most Out of a CBD Pen

Stick to Vaping, as mentioned above, if you want the best experience. Ideally, use a high-density CBD vape.

Aside from lower longevity, vaping generates superior results compared to ingestion; however, this does not mean that every product is of high quality. In fact, the market is saturated with sub-par CBD liquids.

With this in mind, it helps to understand the basics of these liquids to benefit as much as possible.

E-Liquid vs. Oil

An important thing to keep in mind is the difference between CBD e-liquids and CBD vape oils. E-liquids are identical to the vape juices used in e-cigarettes, except the latter contain nicotine. These CBD products can work in a standard “vape”. Like their nicotine counterparts, CBD e-juices use vegetable glycerin (VG) and/or propylene glycol (PG) as carriers.

However, there is a marked difference between VG and PG that indicates quality. Low-end juices tend to contain the man-made PG chemical, which is known to cause occasional allergic reactions. VG, however, is derived from vegetable oil and is not associated with allergies.

Oil, on the other hand, does not use carriers like VG or PG. It is also incompatible with a standard e-cigarette tank. Fortunately, many pens work with both oils and e-liquids. If not, getting an appropriate tank for a basic vape pen is very inexpensive.

Synergy Extracts doesn’t like to use carriers like VG and PG, opting instead for a pure, full spectrum oil. Thanks to our manufacturing process, we’re able to design the oil to vaporise without the need for additional ingredients.

Isolate vs. Full Spectrum

There are two possible types of CBD vape extracts. Isolate is processed in such a way that any additional terpenes are filtered out, leaving up to 99% pure CBD. On the surface, this may sound great; however, it isn’t.

Cannabinoids like CBD rely on the “entourage effect,” where terpenes and other cannabinoids interact with the CBD (or THC) to maximise its efficacy. Isolate essentially cuts CBD off at the knees.

Full spectrum CBD is the opposite. Unlike isolate, the process does not remove additional terpenes, resulting in a stronger product. Make sure to choose vape juices or oils that are full spectrum.

Another thing to watch out for is how the item is manufactured. The finest CBD products are created through highly complex (and expensive) CO2 extraction process.

Always Check the Concentration

You need to know what you’re getting when you use your vape pen. That’s why it’s important to check the concentration. These can range from as little as 50mg to easily over 1,000mg. Higher concentrations are, naturally, more expensive.
