About Terpene Infused CBD Crystals

Here at Synergy Extracts®, we are extremely proud to have pioneered the first range of terpene-infused CBD crystals. Terpene-infused CBD crystals are a very high-quality CBD concentrate, enhanced and flavoured by pure cannabis terpene profiles. Terpenes are the molecules that give all strains of cannabis (along with fruits like lemons, oranges and mangoes) their loud aroma and flavour. Beyond their pleasant taste, terpenes are beginning to show they are quite effective as a medicine.  Due to an almost exclusive focus on THC and CBD in this regard, terpenes remained largely overlooked.  Frankly, the existence – let alone purpose – of terpenes is not common knowledge. Fortunately, this is starting to change.

When cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are filtered/distilled and processed to 99% purity, they are totally devoid of any terpenes.  An average hemp enthusiast may be impressed by this purity, but purer is not always better. The reality, once tested, is quite different.  Purified cannabinoids lack taste, odour and – most importantly – are severely crippled due to lack of terpenes. Without these key components, the synergistic “entourage effect” cannot take place. Some studies even suggest a 50% CBD extract with terpenes is more effective than 99% CBD alone.

F.A.Q

What is the “Entourage Effect”?

The Entourage effect was a phrase first coined by the legendary cannabinoid researcher, Raphael Mechoulam and his team of cannabis scientists.  We use it to describe the relationship between cannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids. Research shows that terpenes block some cannabinoid receptor sites while promoting cannabinoid bonding to others. Consequently, terpenes are believed to directly affect how CBD is absorbed and utilised in our endocannabinoid systems CB1 and CB2 receptors. This enhances both its bioavailability and biological half-life.

Put simply, CBD without terpenes (isolate) is significantly less effective than its terpene-filled (full spectrum) counterpart. This is what inspired our Terpene Infused CBD Crystals.

What is our Terpene Infused CBD Crystals Product?

Our crystals are a premium blend of high-purity CBD concentrate and terpene profiles. They are designed to mimic the effects and flavour of the strain they are based on. These products also contain zero THC, making them non-psychoactive.

What effects will I feel from Terpene Infused CBD Crystals?

A. The main effects are feelings of relaxation and mental clarity that – due to their non-psychoactive nature – can be used at any time of the day.

How much CBD should I Vape, when Vaping a Pure and Concentrated CBD Oil Vape Pen?

How much CBD should I Vape, when Vaping a Pure and Concentrated CBD Oil Vape Pen?

You’re considering vaping CBD, but there are an overwhelming number of options out there and prices seem to vary considerably. What should you be taking into account when making a product selection, and is there any special reason why you should consider a concentrated CBD oil vape pen above other CBD vape products?

Selecting a product based on its price has its pitfalls. Why should some CBD products cost more than others? It all comes down to the concentration of CBD. Some products only contain tiny amounts of CBD and a lot of propylene glycol, the synthetic carrier that’s used for most vape juices. To clarify why this is important, we need to dig a little deeper.

Why Vape CBD?

CBD is a cannabinoid that’s extracted from hemp plants. It doesn’t produce a high, but many people find it relaxing and research suggests it may have potential health benefits. There are multiple ways of taking CBD, but for some people, vaping is the most effective.

This is because vaping is the fastest way to get CBD into your system as it enters straight into the bloodstream. This has an additional benefit. We all want to get value for money, which in CBD terms means finding a delivery method that allows for the maximum amount of CBD to be used by the body. When taking CBD via the oral route in capsules or CBD tinctures, much of the active ingredients are lost through the digestive process. So if you want top bang for your buck, vaping CBD is the way forward.

Propylene Glycol and CBD Vaping

Propylene glycol is a synthetic agent used to keep CBD vape juice flowable. In its natural state, CBD is a solid, and that would make it unsuitable as an e-juice. To make matters more complicated, there’s also no set standard that lays down how much CBD should be added to propylene glycol before it can be seen as a CBD vape juice.

Although there’s no conclusive evidence that propylene glycol, a synthetic compound that is also used as a food additive, is dangerous, there are certainly some concerns about its long-term health effects. Propylene glycol has been linked to asthma and allergies, while another study links it to the formation of formaldehyde, which is a known carcinogen.

The authors of the study suggested that inhaled propylene glycol could be five times as carcinogenic as cigarettes. However, this result is not conclusive because no long-term studies on vaping have been conducted so far.

Breakthrough: A Concentrated CBD Vape Pen Without Propylene Glycol

At Synergy Extracts we believe in the health-boosting potential of hemp just as nature intended. We wanted to produce a high CBD oil vape pen that would contain nothing but natural ingredients. Through experimentation, we discovered that by reintroducing the natural hemp terpenes into a CBD distillate, we were able to keep CBD flowable. The result is a completely natural product with no propylene glycol added.

But what are terpenes? They aren’t cannabinoids, but they are found in all aromatic plants including hemp. Apart from imparting fragrance and flavour, they are believed to offer a host of health benefits in their own right, and when paired with CBD, are thought to enhance its positive effects due to what’s been termed ‘the entourage effect.’

Choosing a CBD Oil Vape Pen: What to Look Out For

When choosing your CBD vape oil, price per volume is only one factor to take into consideration. Evaluate CBD vape products using the following criteria:

  • How much CBD does the product contain?
  • What other ingredients are in the e-juice?
  • Does the CBD vape product contain whole plant CBD goodness like terpenes and minor cannabinoids?

Just as it’s a good idea to read the labels of packaged foods to see what you’re getting, you should also check CBD product labels closely to see what you’ll be inhaling along with CBD.
